Cats and their fondness for reading material is covered in my post, <a href = "http://www.wayofcats.com/blog/cats-and-the-printed-page/253" rel="nofollow">Cats and the Printed Page</a>.

Of course, sometimes they like something... just because they like something.

I can understand, relate, to cats longing for a soft spot to snuggle. Explain why Max, our 8 year old large and not-so-very social cat, loves to lay on newspapers. He paws at the pages and will do the same to magazines. He also has a thing for boxes, any size but preferably one with low sides. To make it really special, I put a plastic grocery store bag in it, in a ball, and he adores laying on it all the more. I don't know if it is the crinkling sound, but he is one who, if he was human, would have a hard time deciding if he were asked "paper or plastic"!
