I have a super-uber alpha. She is the most amazing cat I have ever met. So affectionate, so expressive, and so worth all the headaches she caused in the beginning. I adopted her from foster care when she was about 9 weeks old. She was the quiet, reserved, and skiddish of the litter. Shortly after getting her home, I learned that couldn't be further from who she really was. She demands my attention but in the most curious of ways. She doesn't just sit at your feet and meow or do the figure eight around you legs, that is for lazy cats, instead she finds ways to climb, jump, squirm, wiggle, or whatever necessary to get her head under my hand. I may be standing in the kitchen reaching to the counter to grab my coffee and woosh there she is. My favorite is when I'm talking on the phone and petting her with one hand and she decides my other is not too busy so she tries to squeeze her head in between my hand and my phone. Saying she is high-energy is like saying breathing oxygen is just for fun. This little lady can leap over my head...trust me she's done it. I've caught her perched on the top of a door frame just waiting for me to walk through. She bounds from one room to the next like she was narrowly escaping the grips of a werewolf. Loves hiding on shelves, refrigerators, or on top of furniture to get that perfect pounce. When she wants something she brings it to you. It is not unlike her to drag her bowl into the living room and set it at my feet. She is only 4 months old and almost 10 pounds but by no means overweight. The vet is always surprised at her increase of size at our visits. She is going to be a monstrous sight flying off a bookcase onto my shoulders. I've thought of getting her another kitten as a playmate to help alleviate energy. But no my confidence in picking the right personality out of the litter has been shaken. I was looking for a quiet, independent, but affectionate cat when I chose her. I in no way regret who she is. I am more than willing to change and compromise whatever I have to to ensure she enjoys being with me as much as I enjoy having her.

Good for you, catlindy! Sometimes these situations (with some work on your part) can turn out okay.

fortunately for Monkey, the uber-alpha, i hadnt started reading the way of cats.i would have known that he wouldnt likely fit in with our other two cats. its only by a whisker that he wasnt returned to foster care. luckily he taught us how to play fetch..[and stopped peeing on husbands side of the bed]
