My Persian, Valentine, fits the bill to a T. I have always wondered why he was like this, when all the cats I have seen in the past were so different. He is my only cat, and I often think he is the gentlest, most obliging creature ever! He is perfect for me, and I love him to bits.

Sounds a lot like Timmy, my orange and white tom who died last year (20 years old). The big difference is that he was extremely talkative, and I could usually tell exactly how he felt by his meows (he was part Siamese). He also had a very strong timid streak, howling and wetting himself when given a bath, meeting strangers, etc.

He was my only cat who would *always* come when called if I begged enough. He would start purring easily - only if he was extremely scared would I be unable to get him purring. And if you did something he didn't like, he'd probably meow about it, but he wouldn't make a move to resist. Our other cats both bullied him a bit, though they would also cuddle with him and groom him (and he them - he was very much into licking). When there was drama of dominance competitions, he was always the neutral one, who got along with both contenders. New cats made him nervous for a short while, but it wouldn't take long before they were close friends.
